Job Duties
This instructional position provides effective Career and Technical Education instruction in the masonry trade. This position assists assigned students in completing the required competencies for the masonry trade. The selected candidate will demonstrate effective classroom or lab management; ensure the lab is operated in compliance with all aspects of safety management; and maintain accurate and current student records for assigned students.
Minimum Qualifications
Must possess working knowledge of all phases of masonry trade area to include materials, tools, and machines. Considerable knowledge of the trade area through training and experience. Demonstrated ability to maintain inventory, logbooks, and other documentation as policy directs. Ability to work with adult offenders in a classroom/lab environment. Must be eligible for or possess industry certification and/or a recognized professional trade license in the masonry trade. Must be eligible for or possess a Virginia Trade and Industrial Teaching Certificate. Must be eligible for or possess an endorsement in the trade area (masonry).
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Must have at least two years' full time or 2000 hours of verifiable experience in the last 5 years in the relevant field/trade area for a teaching certificate.
*Note: If you do not currently hold a teaching license from the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), you must:
1. submit all documentation for your provisional license to the licensure designee for VADOC during the first 90 days of employment.
2. obtain a provisional license within the 1-year probationary period as it is the employee’s responsibility and is required to continuing employment at the DOC.
3. be eligible for Reciprocity if has a current, out-of-state teaching license with a comparable endorsement and without any deficiencies, actions, investigations, etc. against it.
